Anita Archer has forged an enviable reputation as one of Australia's leading art advisors through a constant desire to build her knowledge on all major periods of Australian art.
Anita's art pedigree is impeccable and includes an Honours Degree in Fine Arts from Leicester University, experience at Sotheby's London and management of two leading international art galleries. In 1992, Anita migrated to Perth where she headed the art department for Gregsons Auctioneers and, in doing so, became Western Australia's first female auctioneer.
Five years later, she was in Melbourne as business manager and auctioneer in time for the fledgling Deutscher-Menzies art auction house first sale in April 1998, which within 10 years has become the leading Australian-owned art auction house.
In 2001, Anita was appointed general manager of Sydney-based Lawson Menzies and the following year established her own consultancy Anita Archer Fine Art.
Consultant Auctioneer
While still running her own consultancy, in February 2007 Anita Archer was appointed head auctioneer to Melbourne-based art auction house Deutscher and Hackett and each year conducts the company's three annual art auctions in Melbourne and Sydney.
Following an introduction in 2005, Anita Archer was appointed consultant auctioneer to leading Indonesian auction house Larasati. Anita has undertaken their Asian fine art auctions in both Jakarta and Singapore and in 2006 was guest auctioneer for the company's extremely successful inaugural Balinese art auction in Ubud, Bali.
Commercial Art Galleries and Auction Houses
Twenty years in the art industry has led to the establishment of strong but independent working relationships with all of Australia's leading art galleries and auction houses.
Because of this, Anita Archer Fine Art is able to act as an independent professional adviser to clients wishing to buy and sell art works within both the contemporary and secondary art markets. Through her strong links with major international art auction houses Sotheby's and Christie's and other international boutique operations, Anita Archer can also offer this professional service on overseas markets. Her established relationships also include leading commercial galleries in New York, Los Angeles, regional USA, London, regional UK, Europe, Singapore, Hong Kong, South Africa and Dubai.
